So today, after an exhausting weekend spent clearing out our home (I’m glad its done but it was hell while it happened) I have FINALLY got to work on my manuscript, Gypsy Hunter. It has been one of those “grass is greener” type numbers, my husband insisting I get back to reality and revamp and clean out the house. Now I am back in author land, and have been here for about an hour I’m wondering what I was thinking.
It’s kind of a double edged sword. I love it, love my characters and miss it when I’m away from it. But rewriting a manuscript you’ve read over and over is kind of like housework, you know it needs to be done but dammit if I haven’t been here before. Ground hog day.
I’m around the 45K mark, and need to get it to around the 60K+ plus mark according to my research, and I’m pretty confident I’ll do so. I’m refining it now, making dialogue more realistic, and adding more characterisation, as well as four scenes still to be written.
I’ll be in touch again when I’m done, and ready for the beta reader stage. Next literary agent submissions then the world!!
